Non-Technical Training Officers
Managing
our extensive material and human resources is a task that
requires highly trained personnel. We conduct training programs
that help our officers be aware of and apply best practices
to fulfil their responsibilities.
AB-INITIO TRAINING (PRE-COMMISSION)
The following courses are conducted for officers from Non-technical Branches:
Ground Duties Officers Courses (GDOC)
These courses are organised for newly recruited trainee officers
of different Ground Duty branches of the Indian Air Force. These
courses over a duration of one year prepare them to undertake
responsibilities of an officer on successful completion of training
and post commissioning.
The following are the courses organised for the different Ground Duty Branches:
- Ground Duties Officers Course (Administration)
The objective of this course is to train cadets to prepare
them for their duties in the administrative department.
They are trained to undertake general administrative and
managerial functions. The cadets of Adm branch on completion
of first six months of training are required to exercise
option and choose Air Traffic Control or Fighter Control
as a sub-branch. Subsequent training of six months is the
specialized training imparted in these sub-branches.
Basic Air Traffic Control Officers
Course (BATCO)
The purpose of the course is to train officers of the Administrative
branch in Air Traffic Control Services procedure so as to
enable them to discharge their responsibilities as Air Traffic
Controllers.
Fighter
Controller Course
This course prepares officers to function as Fighter Controllers
in Air Defence units. Course is designed to familiarize them
with the responsibilities of Fighter Controller using ground
bases radar equipment.
On successful completion of first six months of Adm training
alongwith six months of ATC/FCC, the cadet is granted commission
in the Adm branch. Though, being equipped with the essential
knowledge of Administration and ATC/FC, these officers are
employed on the ATC/FC duties during the initial stages of
their career. Subsequently on achieving reasonable seniority,
they are required to undertake purely administrative appointments.
• Ground Duties Officers Course (Logistics):
The course helps ab-initio officers to acquire skills in
material management. Their responsibilities include dealing
with procurement, storage, preservation and accounting of
technical/non-technical stores and aircraft spares.
• Ground Duty Officers Course (Accounts):
The course in targeted at enabling ab-initio trainees towards
financial management and accounting of inventories. They are
also trained to monitor the disbursement of public funds and
act as internal auditors in the functioning of organisation.
• Ground Duty Officers Course (Education):
Ab-initio trainees in the Education branch are trained to
gain expertise in the management and implementation of the
General Education Scheme at Air Force Stations. They are also
trained to undertake their subsequent instructional employment.

Ground Duties Officers Course (Meteorology):
The course is designed to train newly inducted
individuals into Meteorology branch of Indian Air Force. The
course introduces ‘Under Trainee Flying Officers (UTFO)’
to the fundamentals of Atmospheric Science.
This is followed by the Initial Forecaster
Course (IFC) to become specialised in Aviation Weather Forecasting.
The course is affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore
for the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Meteorology. |
