History of the Air Force Administrative College
One
of the oldest training institutions of the Indian Air Force, the college has trained
over 10,779 officers from the Air Force and 310 officers from friendly foreign
countries.
The college was initially set up to impart service training to Flight Cadets of the General Duties (Pilot) Branch. In 1949, the college al
so undertook training of Flight Cadets of the Administration, Accounts, Equipment, Education and Meteorology Branches. Gradually the Junior Commander's Course also shifted to the Administrative College at Coimbatore from Jalahalli. In 1957, the college was named the Air Force Administrative College.
Today, AFAC has grown into a large multi-tier institution that imparts training to all the branches of the Indian Air Force and the Air Wing of the National Cadets Corps. The college also offers specialised training programs to officers from the Navy and Army as well as officers from selected foreign countries.
As a mark of recognition of the Air Force Administrative College's dedication to excellence in training and contribution to the development of Officer Corps of the Indian Air Force, it was honoured with the President's Colours in October 2000.
